Track & Field Omnibook ReviewI am the sprint coach for a high school team. I heard about this book when MY HS coach told me about it earlier this year. He told me that when he used it, he had to go to the sport science library in Los Angeles (established during the 1984 olympics).
The beauty of this book isn't that it gives workout plans. The beauty is that it has sport journal articles that are track and field related and puts it together so that you can effectively incorporate training techniques and theory into practice. Also gives different perspectives on different techniques and the rationalization behind them.
The latest edition isn't as fancy as the old hard covers, but it has all ingredients with updated material (2007) with interviews with atheletes such as Jeremy Wariner.
Covers sprints, distance and all field events.
This is a must in any serious coach's library. This book has the culmination of 40 years of experience in our sport (first edition 1971)Track & Field Omnibook Overview
